Blessed
Botanicals is committed to community development and human rights. In order
to put this commitment into action the Ropes to God ™ blend was created so
that we could donate 100% of the profits to the Indigenous Land Rights Fund
(ILRF).
The Indigenous Land Rights Fund (ILRF) is assisting Botswana's
San Bushmen in trying to return to their ancestral homeland, the Central
Kalahari game reserve, from which they were forcibly evicted in 2002 to make
way for diamond mining claims and tourism development. Torture, violence,
intimidation, armed units camped out in the Bushmen villages, the destruction
of water stores, rescinding of hunting licenses and prevention of Bushmen
from even gathering wild plants to eat, resulted in the people being moved
into resettlement camps that they call "the place of Death." ILRF
is helping the displaced Gana and Gwi Bushmen fight their battle in the Botswana
High Court, and is also helping to fund a mediation process between them
and government, brokered by several Nobel Peace Prize Winners. The San Bushmen
are our living ancestors. The oldest known DNA that everyone on the planet
shares, goes back to them. They do not make war, they promote gender equality,
and their entire culture is based around healing. If we lose them, we lose
the source, the essence of who we are, where we come from. All proceeds from
the sale of this tea go to help the San Bushmen in their struggle to continue
existing.

When you dance you will see a rope hanging from the sky. You can climb
this rope. It is white and thin as a blade of grass, you don't have
to grab or touch it. You just float away with that rope. The line just
takes you. It can take you to your ancestors. It is our link with them.
They tell us what to do. You go up and communicate with them and dance with
them.
When they are through with you, they say - "Look at that fire
down there." You
see the fire where your people are dancing. They send you back.
There is a very big house where the Big God lives. When
I go to the Big God's house, I talk with Him, and then after a while he
asks: "Why
is this man here? Send him back." And then I go back.
The Big God is not old or young. He is white, like light. He speaks
your language.

Tara will be launching The Ropes to God Fund (RGF), a non
profit dedicated to benefiting and promoting the healing traditions, medicinal
plants and welfare of women and children within communities both at home
and abroad. While in a trance the busmen healers climb the ropes to God and
ask of God what healing needs to be done in the village below, it is with
this intent that Ropes to God Fund is being formed.
